There are many websites that you can visit to find out a little more about hotdogs, wieners, and sausages. There is a "history of the hot dog" website you can visit at http://www.hot-dog.org/facts/facts_trivia.htm. There are also some fantastic recipes at http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/blmisc55.htm along with facts and trivia at this site http://whatscookingamerica.net/History/HotDog/HDIndex.htm
Did you know in the Northeast and in California, people prefer beef hot dogs. In the Midwest and West, residents prefer combination meat hot dogs. And some westerners prefer a lower fat hot dog. One thing you should be aware of is that Bightmigh Wieners are NOT low-fat. I do not use additives or preservatives at all.
The following is a quote from Homer's Odyssey, an ancient Greek tale about adventure and heroism from the 9th century BC:
"As when a man besides a great fire has filled a sausage with fat and blood and turns it this way and that and is very eager to get it quickly roasted. . ."
which goes to prove that sausages were around way back then. There are many stories and legends concerning where the term "frankfurter" and "wiener" are derived from. Check out these facts and more at the above links.
